Bright Light Society (BLS) is a not-for-profit and is registered in Tamil Nadu. The organization is run by like-minded people for the upliftment of deprived and marginalized communities. BLS is a sustainable social venture with a focus on various developmental activities which will impact the livelihoods directly. BLS is in the process of changing its operations to a new horizon and expansion to other parts of the state and country with keeping its value and commitment towards the community.
Bright Light Society has rich experience in conducting large-scale training programs, research, impact assessment studies, evaluation studies, etc on various issues concerning rural and urban development like livelihoods, education, natural resource management, etc. The key expertise that the team offers includes the following:

Right now BLS has its registered office at Chennai and has offices at Satyamangalam of Tamil Nadu and Rayagada of Odhisha. The skill training centres of BLS are spread across Tamil Nadu in the districts of Kanyakumari, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Erode, Namakkal, Salem, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Pudukottai, Ramanathapuram, Kancheepuram and Chennai
Board Members
Sathish Kumar holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering and has worked in the development sector with government institutes in implementing various watershed and livelihoods programmes and also has worked on seed production, organic farming, mechanized farming and hitech farming through micro irrigation techniques. He has also worked in the IT sector and now is back into development sector. He has expertise in watershed development, on farm and off farm livelihoods, skill training and can develop various MIS and IT tools
Alamelu holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering and has been working in the development sector for the past 20 years. She has a vast experience in implementation watershed activities and also disaster management and rehabilitation work. She has worked in the skill training sector of government of Tamil Nadu for 3 years.
Nagarajan holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering and Sociology and has been working in the development sector for the past 23 years. He has a vast experience in implementation of watershed programmes, livelihood activities, disaster mitigation and preparedness, skill development and employment. He has worked with various government programmes, international NGOs and NGOs and also with corporate. He also has a wide knowledge on research and has led various research and assessment programmes for various organizations. Currently he works for a corporate and also does various CSR programmes
Saravanan. G is a leading developer, promoting residential and commercial complexes. He is a Chemical Engineer and a Philanthropist. He actively spends time on serving old age homes, orphanages and ensures that he contributes to deserving people as individuals and other serving NGOs. Hailing from a humble weaving town in Erode district practicing weaving and practicing Agriculture. He has moved places since then and setting up his mark in forms of residential and commercial establishments.
Advisors
Dr.Manivannan a Soil and Water Conservation Engineer by profession, working for the Indian Council for Agricultural Research as a Senior Scientist, devotes ample time in guiding the team in implementation of various Natural Resource Management Programmes and Watershed Development Programmes
Dr.Raviraj an academician guides the organization in developing various concepts and proposals and conducts various training for the team members especially in the field of soil and water and conservation and natural resource management
Dharmaperumal is a statistician and a computer expert. Works as a data analyst for a Social Research Institute and guides the organization in various research documentation and analysis.
BLS Team
The core team of BLS is young and has good experience in implementing various development projects on Education, Natural Resource Management, Skill Development, and Employment, Community Based Organisation, Disaster Response and Mitigation, conducting large scale research, impact assessment studies, evaluation studies, etc on various issues concerning rural and urban development like livelihoods, education, natural resource management, etc. BLS has 6 professionals in the core team and is supported by more than 50 field-level staff.
BLS implements skill development projects for the dropout youth who have very minimal educational qualifications and also for women. The programs focus on training for a period of 2 to 4 months and getting them employability or helping them in starting an enterprise.
